This shot was taken off of the little bridge in St. Paul that connects Raspberry Island to the rest of the world. We were happy to have such warm and soft light. Plus, houseboats are just so interesting – they seem like snowflakes.. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two of the same. Hopefully you’re weekend was great and your week will be amazing! This is the latest St. Paul skyline shot we’ve taken. It was a VERY humid evening and we had just shot Lottie’s one-month photos. The sky was beautiful though and this shot was worth the extra sweat. :) It was the first chance we had to use Viveza 2 to add a little pizazz to the image. It was on sale so we picked it up. Although it doesn’t do anything you cannot accomplish in Photoshop, it speeds things up soooo much it’s already been very worth it. The ‘Shadow adjustment’ is awesome for taking the shadows out of eye sockets, and that alone would make it a worthy addition to our ‘natural light’ photography toolkit. This is the Minnesota Centennial Showboat. We’ve walked by lots of times and never given much thought to what it is, so it was fun to read up on on their website. Seems like a fun place to see a show sometime. :) Reflections are always fun to include in photos. I took this shot a few times until the reflection was framed with the boat just right. This weeks Scenic Sunday is two shots from inside Galtier Plaza, downtown St. Paul. We were out walking the skyways with Charlotte and these beautiful views caught our eye. HDR doesn’t always have to look surreal. It can be used to better represent how our eyes see things, and that’s what was done in these two shots. Hopefully your week is of to a great start! Before Charlotte was born I would often think about the fun things we would do together. One of those things was taking new pictures for the Scenic Sunday series. Early this week that daydream came true! We all took a walk together near home and caught this lovely sunset. I had the camera with to take lots of ‘Charlotte’ pictures and wasn’t expecting to shoot any HDR, so I had no tripod with. Photomatix does an awesome job of aligning images together, so these five exposures were shot handheld, no problem. Give it a try!
