What They’re Worth

Posted on Sep 3, 2011

Charlotte is now a little over TWO MONTHS old. It felt like she would never ever come at the end, like time had frozen and we were going to have to wait forever. But now we’ve enjoyed two months worth of new excitement, new worries, and new experiences. We’ve enjoyed learning what it’s like to, in the blink of an eye, love someone in a way we could never have imagined. We’ve been eyewitnesses to little-big moments in Charlotte’s life. There have been so many firsts, first breath, first cry, first bath, first smile, first walk, first tears. Firsts that have came and went and are left to our memories for recall – and our photographs.

When talking with friends before Charlotte’s arrival they would comment on how many pictures of our baby we would take. We knew we would take a lot, and why not? We keep a camera handy at all times just in case. We have taken lots of photographs of Lottie now – with our good cameras and with our cell phones. We make time every so often for a mini-photo session. And we are so glad we have. The amount of change in just two months is phenomenal. The amount of outgrown clothes is a testimony to this. Personality is developing. Recognition of who is and who is not holding her is apparent. It’s all amazing to watch happen and every moment is so valuable. Looking through our pictures brings us right back to those moments and feelings. These are pictures we’ll be looking at the rest of our lives.

So, what’s a photograph worth? As they are the window into invaluable memories, they are inherently priceless. Whether you hire a professional, use a point and shoot, or fire up your cell phone camera, don’t forget to take pictures. Even things that feel normal and routine will eventually (or can quickly) change, let alone the ‘big’ moments that happen once and are history forever. While the time we enjoy with our loved ones right now is always the best, there’s no reason not to remember and hold onto the time we’ve had with these special people. The power of a photograph has become even more evident to us now. Freeze and save as many moments as you can! You will never regret having lots of pictures!

Here are some of our favorite moments from the last couple months that we keep going back and revisiting… Enjoy!
